Hot time at Fairbanks Casino Night

More than 100 AGC of Alaska members and friends said goodbye to the cold for a few hours and warmed things up — old-school Vegas style — at the first AGC of Alaska Fairbanks Casino Night and Bowl-A-Thon kick-off party Feb. 23.

The AGC of Alaska Associates Council recruited more than 40 dealers and volunteers who helped make the evening a success. Chevrolet Buick GMC of Fairbanks was the generous event sponsor, and Midnight Sun Catering provided top-notch cuisine.

Volunteers from Hale & Associates Inc. set up drinks at the full bar while attendees dined on crab-stuffed mushrooms, Korean beef skewers, orange-glazed chicken skewers, beef sliders, chilled shrimp cocktail and an array of other delights.

Those willing to try their luck could choose from blackjack, Texas hold ‘em, roulette and craps. The night was a competition, with volunteers from the AGC/University of Alaska Fairbanks student chapter at the door counting chips as people prepared to leave. Bill Gottmeier of Denali Industrial Supply Inc. was the high roller of the evening, with Kari Pile from Design Alaska in second place and Kama Patterson of Fairbanks Building Block & Materials in third. A true sign of a good party, one attendee said, “I thought I would stop by for an hour, and I ended up staying for three!”
