LEGISLATIVE FLY-IN

AGC TEAM HIGHLIGHTS INVESTMENT, RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT AT LEGISLATIVE FLY-IN

About two dozen members of the Associated General Contractors of Alaska met with legislators and state officials during an annual fly-in Feb. 5-6 in Juneau.

The fly-in team divided into groups and had discussions with 40 legislators, articulating the importance of infrastructure investment, discussing comprehensive workers’ compensation reform and promoting the need for responsible development of all Alaska’s resources.

AGC board members met with Gov. Mike Dunleavy to communicate the association’s top priorities and to voice support for a sustainable budget. They also met with a familiar face, Department of Transportation & Public Facilities Commissioner John MacKinnon, to discuss issues related to the DOT&PF. Members also met with Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Tamika Ledbetter to discuss the importance of — and the need for — apprenticeships in our industry.

Several people in the fly-in group also met with Rep. Chris Tuck of Anchorage to express concerns about House Bill 26, which proposes requiring loads of dirt, gravel, rock and other materials to be covered.
